– No More Wet Stamps, Just Dry Humor.

Hey Americans! New UK Travel Requirements Starting January 8, 2025

If you’re traveling to the United Kingdom for tourism on or after January 8, 2025, there are new pre-travel requirements. You will need to apply for an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) from Gov.UK.

  • What is ETA?: A digital authorization linked to your passport number. A new requirement for entry into the UK.
  • How to Apply: Apply online or through the Gov.UK app.
  • Cost: £10 or about $12.98.
  • Security Tip: To keep your smartphone data secure, apply online. You can skip the live photo by uploading a recent photo and a copy of your passport.
  • Quick Process: The application process is fast with a decision within 3 business days. I received my approved ETA within a minute.
  • Validity: All ETAs are valid for two years.
  • No Paper Copy Needed: Remember the ETA is linked to your passport number, so a paper copy is not required. However, it’s always a good idea to take a photo of your confirmation email and keep it handy when entering the UK.

Your ETA is your digital permission to travel to the United Kingdom in 2025. As more borders become digitized, this rollout is not unexpected.  See the example below.

Remember Starseeds, you can apply online without giving up your smartphone details. Simply scroll down and click on Apply online (see highlighted section).

You will need to scroll down on each successive page to access the apply online link.
